Line 6 Guitar Amplifier

Is it dangerous to connect a microphone to a guitar amp?
I have a small band and I wonder if it really is dangerous to connect a microphone in my Line 6 Spider III 75 watt guitar amplifier.
It is not dangerous but may not work too well unless the amplifier input is designed for microphones. It would be better to get a PA system if you want to amplify small voices.
