Help jazz band?

I was hoping to audition for the jazz band next year to the guitarist …. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or anything else for me to work on over the summer. It will be very difficult (the truth I do not think I will be elected because it will be a freshman year and I will go against higher grades), but I was really hoping to give it a go. I was wondering if anyone knows of any books or music would be great to work with him. I take lessons with a guitar teacher. Thanks for your help! : D ok lol I really do not like the way I stated that … basically I want to audition to be the guitarist of my big band jazz school, and I need help. lol. Just to fill you in I know how to play and read notes in a normal guitar. I can also play chords and tabs. Yep. lol

First … congratulations to get there. It is not an easy thing to do. Therefore, it is definitely cool! In Concerning the preparation, as a musician friend, I would say this: "Keep the classes with their guitar teacher. You will not regret it. It will pay all frutos.-Making I can to listen to all different styles of jazz music in general and other styles (gospel, soul, rock, fusion, etc. )…. although not what the jazz band normally performs. I say this because I think it is important to understand the different styles, phrases, interpretations, and different methods of improvisation techniques. As drummer, I think that really helped me to always listen to all styles of music (even if not set) because occasionally I will be drawing from it and have a musical taste most diverse (sp?) elegir.-Try searching for online (eg YouTube or other sources) for Various video clips / images of jazz professionals. Perhaps you can buy some DVDs of live jazz (Newport and Monterey festivals) to reference. Displaying the best is never a bad thing. Trying to be the best you can be always mejor.-Finally, I always think it's important to try to play with so many experienced (which are definitely better than you) musicians as possible. I say this because … A) It helps you build your chops / technique to observe, listen and touch. B) You will work harder on his game and challenge. C) Psychologists Help to build a mental picture of what you want to be a musician, how he wants to play and increase their knowledge of what it takes to get there. Do not worry about being a student freshmen, you have much to offer and your time will come. Hold on. Keep up the hard work. The music never fail you!
