What is a good guitar pedal?

I have been playing the classical guitar for about three years and got my first electric guitar, a semi-hollow epiphone dot, about 6 months ago. I am interested in getting a guitar pedal of some sort but don’t know which to get. so you know what kind of music i like here is a list of artists i like: (and I especially like Jack White obviously)

For your first pedal I would say you should get either a:
Boss DS-1
or
Big Muff Pi by Electro Harmonix. (Russian made)

The big muff more or less gives you the sound that hendrix had and it was rumored that he used a prototype model of it, which could explain why. It is a must have.

The DS-1 on the other hand was the pedal that Kurt Cobain used in Nirvana for his rough distortion. Other than for Nirvana, this pedal doesn’t quite sound that good.

As for bands like Nine Inch Nails, You would need a very strong distortion pedal. The only problem with getting a pedal that could give you Nine Inch Nail’s style distortion is that it doesn’t sound very good for styles other than Industrial Rock

I personally recommend the Big Muff as it has a rich tone to it and suits most genres. You could pick it up for roughly $US70.

The Boss DS-1 costs roughly $US40

TIP: Use ebay, I’m from Australia and I bought my DS-1 for $130! I could have bought it for half of that if I bought it online
