This is an interview with Kevin Gaskell, designer and founder of GASKELL guitars Australia. This is from January 2008.
Name of your company?
Gaskell Guitars
Your name?
Kevin Gaskell (I am the designer)
Your location (city, etc)
Alexandria, Sydney. Australia
Please provide a brief summary of your company?
Gaskell Guitars is the only guitar manufacturer in the world to do only left-handed guitars. Based in Australia, Gaskell Guitars is trying Popular Guitar provision not otherwise available as models for lefty lefty guitarists this world. I started 10 years ago. I got it totally together at the end of 2006.
What inspired him to launch his own website?
To get the message: Guitarists from the left hand does not have to feel left out in the darkness, sanctioned, or ignored simply because they are handed a guitar.
When was the launch of its first website, and what was it?
We have been in business since the beginning of 2007 but not until the launch of our website in mid 2007. There is still work to do, but more important is to achieve high quality guitars in the hands of guitar players left hand often have given up ever finding the guitars to do!
How to decide on a name for your site web?
Brand
What makes it different from other similar offers?
We are the only company in the world to offer a left handed guitars although apparently only be a small market. No one else is doing this because nobody really cares about left-handed guitar players unless they have a lot of money cash to flash around and have something done in a custom shop.
What is your goal?
Corner the market. At the international level. Our recognition brand is growing. People like our products and are good. I am a lefty guitarist me to talk the talk and walk.
How does your investment time and money balance against your success?
However, to make a profit! Largely driven by passion, as anything that someone is dedicated a.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how things change?
We'd like to do more guitar faster and satisfy the left-handed guitarists – such as bears. Demand is outstripping supply at the moment. It costs money to take another step and another step.
If your business site became very large, very fast, you would be able to continue with demand?
Already struggling with maintaining demand for products! Left Handed Guitarists are very passionate. And they must be! They have been kicked in the teeth for many years. All players know lefties.
What unexpected costs and headaches has had to face?
The first model is always the most expensive. All our guitars had to be redesigned from scratch and are largely hand. (Machine Tools CNC) in factories has been designed to make guitars with the right hand. It was "interesting" to set this option we say. I would never have been so hard to make guitars with his right hand and try to penetrate a saturated market there. It's much much cheaper to make guitars with the right hand.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To make available the guitars at the same time make a profit. We do not do much in our guitars. We could have applied ridiculous prices since nobody else makes our models, but then called the "greed" and that's not where we are. Left Handed guitarists have been betrayed enough bad it is. The other thing that the struggle is with shipping. This is beyond our control. The costs to U.S. and Europe, Australia are quite ridiculous the post-9/11 world.
What has been most successful method to promote your site?
Classified Ads
How has running your website web differs from your expectations?
I am not a website builder or supplier. Every little change or improvement costs money! Good news comes at a price!
How much Time has run the site already, and how long it will take to keep it if not enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since About mid 2007. We intend to keep it going for as long as the guitarists left our guitars – hopefully forever!
Why Gibson has made only at a time, in the 1980s when I had the money to buy one. Many other guitars did not come in his left hand at the time. 25 years then not much had changed. I decided if we will be essentially "high" by the major guitar manufacturers then I will fill this gap. I did my first guitar in 1992 and developed from there. Customers who bought Gaskell guitars are routinely pleased and grateful for these instruments, not only because the price is good, but they are excellent, the guitars of high quality that has always been and always will be our intention. We do not do "cheap" except in the price.

For awhile there, ol' Pete had a pretty nifty solo career going. Who Came First, his 1972 solo debut, sidestepped comparisons to the Who by tackling spiritual themes with low-key charm, qualities that resurfaced on Rough Mix, his wonderful 1977 duo record with Ronnie Lane. Then came Empty Glass, which was both grand and successful, like peak Who. From then on, Townshend's been mostly grandiose and...
